The two-day exposure camp

Experience the work.
Explore the possibility.

A camp gives participants a chance to meet instructors, try appropriate introductory activities and consider whether they want to learn more. We agree the final agenda with your community.

01 / EQUIPMENT & ACTIVITIES

Get a practical introduction.

  • Protective equipment orientation
  • Introductory hose and water supply activities
  • Emergency response demonstrations and scenarios suitable for the cohort

02 / TEAMWORK & SERVICE

Understand the people behind the work.

  • Supervised teamwork activities
  • Conversations about fire service wellness
  • What service to a community can look like

03 / WHAT COMES NEXT

Make an informed next decision.

  • A conversation about further learning
  • A certificate of completion
  • Separate planning for professional training
The camp is career exposure and introductory learning. Its completion certificate is not NFPA firefighter certification and does not qualify participants for operational firefighting duties. Activities depend on participant suitability, facilities, equipment and the instructor safety plan.

From interest to a delivery plan

A program your organization can act on.

For education directors, principals, youth program managers, training managers and Nation administrators.

  1. Understand your community.

Identify participants, goals, approximate numbers, preferred dates and who approves the program.

  2. Confirm what delivery needs.

Review the site, equipment, instructor arrangements, responsibilities and cost.

  3. Agree on the next step.

Prepare a suitable written proposal, clarify approvals and explore agreed funding work where eligible.

A separate professional training pathway

Planning beyond exposure?

For fire chiefs and community training leaders, we can also discuss a Firefighter Level 1 and Level 2 pathway, including learner readiness, practical facilities, instruction and assessment requirements.

A certification route must be confirmed.

Certification administration and testing arrangements for this offering are still being confirmed. These must be settled before enrolment. Training attendance alone does not confer NFPA certification.

Completing an exposure camp does not establish eligibility for the advanced course.

Before you book

Who is the planning call for?

Organizations arranging a community cohort: schools, education departments, youth programs, community training teams and fire departments. Bring the program approver into the conversation where possible.

What does the camp cost?

Your cohort quote is prepared after the planning call. Participant numbers, location, activities, travel, meals and delivery responsibilities are confirmed in the written proposal.

Can you help with funding?

We can discuss suitable routes and agreed application support where the project is eligible. Approval and reimbursement are not guaranteed. Your organization must be able to meet the agreed payment terms.

Does all training happen in our community?

We plan community-based delivery where the site permits. Some activities, practical training or evaluations may require an external facility and travel.

What should we have ready?

Approximate participant numbers, age range, preferred dates, site and equipment information, funding position and who approves the program. You do not need every detail finalized to discuss the next step.
